first meeting of the radio machine collective
For those who came in late...................(phantom reference)
What we are designing and making:
We are individually designing mechanical noise machines that will be assembled as a cluster (one very big noise machine) and broadcast across the universe.
These machines must comply to the following parameters:
1. the machine must work via a rotary drive (a wheel / sprocket)
2. the machine has a loop cycle of 30 seconds.
3. The time of your sound is based on the date of your birth (eg 2oth of march = 20 seconds) which leaves a deficit (silence) of 10 seconds). This can be worked out as a ratio / activity angle by multiplying your date by 12 to get degrees out of a full revolution (360 degrees) which in this case would equal 240 degrees of sound and 120 degrees of silence.
4. The machine is to cost $0 - nothing, it must be made of scavenged materials.
5. Next week you are to have made a working mock-up out of bits and pieces.
6. The assembled radio machine will be wall mounted, and it will also be mobile (made into some sort of cart)
7. Your machine can be how ever big you need it to be - just remember it does need to be transported. - so perhaps make sure that it is under half your body weight and has a handle.
